Composition of water glass
Water glass is divided into sodium water glass and potassium water glass, commonly known as Paohua alkali. Sodium water glass is an aqueous solution of sodium silicate with the molecular formulas of Na2O.nSiO2 and K2O.nSiOz. Potassium water glass is an aqueous solution of potassium silicate with a molecular formula of K2O.nSiOz. Sodium water glass is mainly used in civil engineering. Potassium water glass can also be used when the engineering technical requirements are higher. High-quality pure water glass is a colorless and transparent viscous liquid, soluble in water. When it contains impurities, it is pale yellow or blue-gray.
The n in the molecular formula of sodium water glass is called the modulus of water glass, which represents the ratio of the number of molecules of Na2O and SiO2, and is a very important parameter. The larger the n value, the higher the viscosity and strength of the water glass, but the lower the solubility in water. When n is greater than 3.0, it can only be dissolved in hot water, which brings trouble to use. The smaller the n value, the lower the viscosity and strength of water glass, and the more soluble in water. Therefore, the commonly used modulus n in civil engineering is 2.6 to 2.8, which is easily soluble in water and has high strength. The use of water glass grouting for plugging and other uses
1. The surface of the brushed material improves the weathering resistance
The water glass solution coating or impregnating materials can penetrate into the gaps and pores, and the cured silica gel can block the capillary channels to improve the density and strength of the material, thereby improving the weathering resistance of the material. Water glass should not be used to paint or impregnate gypsum products. The glass reacts with gypsum to form sodium sulfate (Na2SO4), and the crystal expansion in the pores of the product leads to the cracking and damage of the gypsum product.
2. Reinforce the soil
Water glass and calcium chloride solution are alternately injected into the soil, and the two solutions react rapidly to form silica gel and calcium silicate gel, which play the role of cementing and filling pores, improving soil strength and bearing capacity, and are often used in silt, sand and filling soil. The foundation reinforcement is called double-liquid grouting.
3. Preparation of quick-setting waterproofing agent
Water glass and a variety of alum are formulated into a quick-setting waterproofing agent for local emergency repairs such as plugging and caulking. The multi-alum waterproofing agent coagulates quickly, usually within a few minutes, and its four-alum waterproofing agent exceeds 1 minute, so it must be used on the construction site. Ready to use.
There are four kinds of alums commonly used in multi-alum water repellents, such as bile alum (copper sulfate), red alum (potassium dichromate K2Cr2O7), alum (also known as alum potassium aluminum sulfate), and purple alum.
4. Preparation of acid-resistant cementation, acid-resistant mortar and acid-resistant concrete
Acid-resistant cementitious water glass and acid-resistant powder (commonly used quartz powder) are prepared, and together with acid-resistant mortar and concrete samples, they are mainly used for sulfuric acid pools in engineering with acid-resistant requirements.
5. Preparation of heat-resistant cementitious, heat-resistant mortar and heat-resistant concrete
Water glass cementing is mainly used for refractory masonry and repair, water glass heat-resistant mortar and concrete are mainly used for blast furnace foundation and its structural parts with heat resistance requirements.
6. Application of anti-corrosion engineering
Modified sodium silicate acid-resistant mud is an important material for acid and corrosion resistance. Main characteristics of acid-resistant, temperature-resistant, dense and impermeable, low-cost, easy to use. Mixed into acid-resistant mortar, acid-resistant mortar and acid-resistant concrete. It is an ideal material for acid storage tank, acid-resistant floor, and acid-resistant surface masonry for structural anti-corrosion engineering.
Whether water glass can be grouted and plugged
Since water glass is mixed into cement slurry as a quick-setting agent in some foundation projects, it has achieved good effects of accelerating the cementation of the slurry and controlling its diffusion range, so that the grouting method of cement water glass has been developed. Therefore, water glass is widely used for grouting plugging. It is a very common grouting plugging product.
