    Sulfuric acid is an important industrial chemical, and its production process is mainly carried out through the contact method. The contact method includes three main steps: first, burning sulfur into sulfur dioxide, then oxidizing sulfur dioxide into sulfur trioxide through a catalyst, and finally combining sulfur trioxide with water to generate sulfuric acid.

     

    Step One: Generation of Sulfur Dioxide Gas (SO2) Sulfur dioxide gas is formed when sulfur obtained from various sources is burned. This step requires ensuring that the air supplied to the combustion process is dry. When burning sulfur, the ratio of air to sulfur must be controlled to ensure that high-purity sulfur dioxide is produced.

     

    Step 2: Catalytic oxidation of sulfur dioxide to generate sulfur trioxide (SO3). Under the action of a catalyst (usually vanadium pentoxide), sulfur dioxide reacts with oxygen to generate sulfur trioxide. The temperature and pressure of this step need to be strictly controlled to optimize the yield of sulfur trioxide.

     

    Step 3: Sulfur trioxide combines with water to form sulfuric acid (H2SO4). When sulfur trioxide combines with water, sulfuric acid is formed. This process releases a large amount of heat, so measures need to be taken to control the reaction temperature to prevent equipment damage.
