    Sodium Silicate Manufacturing Plant

    Asia chemical offers two types of plants depending on the Silica feedstock and the expected product


    Solid sodium silicate

    Sodium silicate can be produced by dissolving silica in molten sodium carbonate. It can also be produced in a reactor, by treating a mixture of caustic soda, water and silica in the form of quartz sand with hot steam. The chemical compound can be also be produced from sodium sulfate with carbon as a reducing agent.

    Process reaction in solid phase (thermal process)

    The feed materials in this process are sodium carbonate and quartz sand, or sodium sulfate and quartz sand. The feed materials are heated in a reflection furnace. The reaction is as follows:


    Na2CO3 +XSiO2 → (Na2O)•(SiO2)X + CO2

    4Na2SO4 +2C +4SiO2 → 4Na2SiO3 +4SO2 +2CO2


    The sodium silicate produced by this thermal process has modules depending on the requirements of different applications.

    production method

    The production methods of sodium silicate are divided into dry method (solid-phase method) and the wet method (liquid phase method).


    1. Dry production is to mix quartz sand and soda ash in a certain proportion and heat it to about 1400 ℃ in a reverberatory furnace to generate molten sodium silicate;


    2. Wet production uses quartzite powder and caustic soda as raw materials, reacts in a high-pressure steamer under the steam of 0.6~1.0 MPa, and directly generates liquid water glass. Micro silica fume can replace quartz ore to produce sodium silicate with modulus 4.

    Precautions:

    1. Store in a dry, cool, and ventilated warehouse, and shall not be stacked in the open air.

    2. There should be coverings during transportation to avoid rain, moisture, and agglomeration, and light loading and unloading are required to prevent the polyethylene bags from being damaged and agglomerated by moisture.

    3. After unpacking, it must be used up in time to avoid moisture absorption and caking.


    Sodium Silicate Manufacturing Plant Usage

    Uses: It can be used as an additive in a refractory binder, furnace gunning agent, additive, oil mining reinforcement, mineral mining, other construction, pigment, paint, and other industries. Instant powdered sodium silicate is mainly used as gunning material for furnace repair, amorphous refractory, sand foundry industry, binder in thermal insulation materials, binder for electric welding rod, acid-resistant cement, quick-drying cement and other cement. Auxiliary, degreasing agent, filler, and corrosion inhibitor in the coating industry, cleaning agent industry, soap making industry, and synthetic detergent, and can be used in the applicable range of liquid foaming alkali.
